Consciousness requires a point of view
A conscious machine could be built but only if built with a point of view—evidenced by: homeostatic behaviour; holistic assessment of context and context dependent responses; and ascribing consciousness to it provided offered some explanatory power.

A conscious machine could be built, but not unless it was built with a point of view. The following would be evidence that the machine possessed a point of view:

  • displaying homeostatic (goal directed) behaviour;
  • displaying holistic assessment of its context and context dependent responses;
  • and ascribing consciousness to its provided offered some explanatory power.
