Does making a weekly paycheck get the people out of poverty?
According to Gaither-Smith of Ohio Stat University this is not true. Middle-class people believe that if you make a paycheck then you are bringing people out of poverty. Gaither-Smith says that is all a mind-set.
Four main points that will be addressed during the workshop are: language, family structure, available resources and hidden rules of economic classes. These four points need to be understood by those who work with people in poverty so they can help these people better adjust to jobs and middle-class culture, Gaither-Smith said. For instance, people in poverty typically have a limited vocabulary of about 800 to 1,000 words. Until advised otherwise, they are unaware that casual language is not always appropriate in the workplace. A basic idea such as this may be crucial in landing or maintaining a middle-class career.

This article is explaining the ways in which the students at Ohio State University see people getting out of poverty. The students did research on a book called Bridge Out of Poverty, and the programs in order to help the people and the things in the programs that will help the people get out of poverty. They tested to see if the programs would work. It was also a workshop being offered for the program in other states.

I believe that if they are educated more then they can achieve greatness. They will be able to pull themselves out of poverty. So is the research saying that if they actually make money like middle-class people then there would be no poverty in the world? I believe the article is saying that if they educate more people the fit the standards of the jobs they are applying for then there would be less poverty in the world, because money is not the only reason that people are in poverty. They could be well educated and still be in poverty, because of other reasons.

According to the U.S Census, "Black households had the lowest median income in 2005 ($30,858) among racegroups. Asian households had the highest median income ($61,094). The medianincome for non-Hispanic white households was $50,784. Median income for Hispanichouseholds was $35,967."
