Dynamic electricity pricing
Make it more expensive for people to consume electricity at peak times.
Utilities often fall back on GHG-intensive (e.g. coal or diesel) power plants to handle peak use. If electricity use were more constant, utilities could rely more on higher-efficiency sources. One way to achieve this is charge more when demand is high, so people shift their demand if they can to lower-cost times of day.
