When two or more people are logged into a map at the same time, a small co-presence indicator appears in the top right corner of the Hub view.
Rolling over the co-presence indicator opens a dialog box that let you learn more about, and contact, the other people listed. (1) The Chat link works in the same way as the Discuss button – i.e. opening a text entry box at the bottom of the map and displaying your message in the map Stream – except that the Chat link ALSO displays your message as a small, light-yellow note over the map so that it can be seen by the others irrespective of whether they have the Stream open at the time. This additional yellow notification gives you a way to signal to others that you are about to start a conversation in the Stream, (or, for example, to call a map meeting to order). (2) Each person's name is displayed as a link, which, when clicked, opens the Map Community list with their entry highlighted in yellow. From this list you can send a private direct messasge to the other person (via email) using the Contact>> link and/or add the person to list of people whose activity stream you are following using the Follow>> link. |
