"There are 100 companies responsible for 71% the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. They are without exception all oil and coal companies.

The only way to effectively combat climate change is to rapidly and aggressively move away from oil and coal and towards renewable energy on all fronts using a diversity methods, with emphasis being placed on curtailing the emissions caused by the companies on that list.

A large part of this must include eliminating the profit motive for producing greenhouse gas emissions and products that cause emissions, again using a diversity of tactics including but not limited to carbon taxes, regulatory and legislative action, and trade sanctions and embargoes.

However, history has shown us that companies and the capitalists that own them will use any means at their disposal to resist and dismantle any measures, environmental protections or otherwise, that stand in the way of their profits. Thus any truly effective and lasting measures against climate change must be coupled ending capitalism and establishing a new and more democratic economic model, so that a small unelected elite motivated only by their personal profit do not have vast control of the global economy and therefore environment."
