Elza Fernandes Paxeco (1912-1989)

Elza Paxeco was born on the 6th of January of 1912, in São Luís, Lisbon.
She was the first woman to earn a doctoral degree from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, in 1938, where she would lecture French Literature and English Language and Literature.
She died on the 28th of December of 1989.


Elza Paxeco nasceu a 6 de Janeiro de 1912 em São Luís, Lisboa. Elza Paxeco foi a primeira mulher doutorada pela Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa (1938). Leccionou nesta Faculdade as cadeiras de Literatura Francesa e de Língua e Literatura Inglesas.

Morreu a 28 de Dezembro de 1989.
