Acute vs chronic infectious diseases: timeline matters
The infectious period of acute infectious diseases (in days) is so short that the environment is approx. constant. The infectious period of chronic infectious diseases (e.g. HIV, in years or decades) is so long that the environment changes dramatically. Different modeling philosophy is needed.
