This tip, titled "A cluttered view may be a clue to look for more underlying structure", says this:

When an idea has many children – i.e. lots ideas arising from it – this is often a sign that there's a clearer and more efficient / compressed way of structuring the ideas to be found. If a particular view starts to feel cluttered, start looking for different ways to group or organize the ideas.
