Chase VINN Excellence Centre
A cluster of projects from the Chase VINN Excellence Centre and partners.

The Chase centre started in the beginning of 2007 and has a total budget of SEK 210 million over 10 years with cash and in-kind contributions. The industrial interests are mainly in Wireless Communications, Remote Sensing and Medical Applications of Microwaves. Chase is oriented towards applied research and the projects are chosen based on industrial needs, usefulness for society and global sustainability. The projects should lead to products and opportunities of employment. Chase is very dependent on other more basic research projects at Chalmers, for example in the Charmant centre. To reach the overall goal of bridging the gap between research and products, it is vital that the university researchers work closely together with researchers and engineers from industry and research institutes.

The centre covers the research areas of nine Chalmers professors within Antennas, Bioelectromagnetics, Biomedical Electromagnetics, Communication Systems, Computational Electromagnetics and Signal Processing. Chase has support from 15 Swedish companies that actively participate in the research projects. The companies range from well established large industries to small start-ups from the professors research activities. They cover the market areas wireless communications, satellite communications, medical technology and remote sensing.
