Proposal: Create "The DebateGraph Global Overview Initiative"
An initiative dedicated to supporting large-scale change, using DebateGraph maps as the basis for action.

The DebateGraph Global Overview Initiative (DGOI) would seek to support responses to the multiple crises facing our global community today (as explored through the DebateGraph maps connected to Our World Today; see cross-link) by bringing together people and organizations to explore our response options and promote action using DebateGraph maps.

Two possible benefits of the DGOI:

The key benefit would be the way DebateGraph makes hard thinking by groups or individuals easier (see the cross-link to a short article on this topic: DebateGraph and hard thinking) by giving us a tool to replicate and then surpass in complexity the maps of issues and knowledge we try to build in our heads. These maps could be private or public.

The DGOI could further help by facilitating the construction of public maps to help public communication and education.

To link this initiative to existing proposals I think it supports these two of the 10 scalable solutions proposed by University of California researchers in 2015:

Societal transformation

2. Foster a global culture of climate action through coordinated public communication and education at local to global scales. Combine technology and policy solutions with innovative approaches to changing social attitudes and behavior.

3. Deepen the global culture of climate collaboration by designing venues where stakeholders, community and religious leaders converge around concrete problems with researchers and scholars from all academic disciplines, with the overall goal of initiating collaborative actions to mitigate climate disruption.

I think these two statements could be modified to apply to any of the risks and challenges we face, not just global warming and climate change.

Comments welcome.
