Return on Energy (or Energy Yield)
How much energy is required in total to obtain more energy. This is the test for alternative energy proposals. For example, if PV cells have such low yield that they cannot be used to make more PV cells and have working energy left over, they are not energy efficient, no matter what the $ say.
