If mobilized, Ahmadi-Nejad's allies might win a majority in the Assembly of Experts in 2006—an 82-cleric body, elected ever 8 years, with the power to anoint/dismiss the Supreme Leader. Opening up the possibility of Kahmenei being replaced.
