Song talks about having her not worry about others & focus on herself
“So take this moment, Mary Jane, and be selfish. / Worry not about the cars that go by. / Cause all that matters, Mary Jane, is your freedom. / Keep warm, my dear, keep dry”.

-She (Mary Jane) is so wrapped up in what society expects from her and is not caring about herself. Her eating disorder is most likely taken on because of society's pressures of having a "perfect body". "Worry not about the cars that go by" means don't worry about other people and what they think or want "cause all that matters, Mary Jane, is your freedom/ Keep warm, my dear, keep dry" meaning all that truly matters is yourself and you're own personal happiness. When you are happy with yourself you are essentially "free" from the pressures of society affecting your life.

A journalist explains her meaning to this part of song in the following statement, "Again, we see the lyrics implying that Mary Jane is inexperienced, and does not know any better than to hope for a nicer world. The lyrics counsel Mary Jane to abandon this cause, drop her concern for others, and simply take care of herself, as the rest of the people in the world take care of themselves."
