Self-scanning robot would be conscious
VoorArgument
1
#1017
Building a conscious robot is simply a matter of building a machine that monitors its own internal activities—this generates a conscious feeling—and that scans the results of those monitorings—this generates awareness of the feeling.
There are three levels: the internal activity, the first-level scanning, and the second-level scanning.
Both consciousness and the ability to learn are made possible by the two scanning levels.
John Pollock (1989).

No: computers can't be conscious [6]☜Machines cant have subjective experiences. Machines cant consciously perceive, feel, or remember anything. And, because consciousness is necessary for thought, machines cant think either.☜59C6EF

Blindsight explained by faulty scanners ☜Internal scanning models supported by blindsight victims. Blindsighters receive perceptual input—level-1 activity—but arent conscious of that internal activity due to a failure of their high-order scanners—a failure of level 2 and 3 activities.☜EF597B
