Lower Manhattan Project
The Lower Manhattan Project is assembling a multidisciplinary team to examine the impact of the current economic crises on energy, the environment, and security.

About Us

"The Lower Manhattan Project is working to provide vital answers to a single central question: What are the implications of current economic crises on energy, the environment, and security? To that end, we have successfully set up a multidisciplinary team, developed a set of initial findings, and identified critical questions for future work.

Unlike traditional analysis teams, LMP is developing an approach to access knowledge from a broad range of disciplines, essential to the creation and synthesis of unbiased and clear foresight. We are working with over 40 scientists, economists, business people, and other specialists from 27 organizations, including the New York Academy of Sciences; Council on Foreign Relations; American Electric Power; First Capital Equities; New York State Department of Transportation; United Nations; and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

As members of the LMP study group, these experts are leveraging their brainpower and the latest research, digital media technologies and social innovation methods to uncover indispensable insights and present them in a way that maximizes their open use. Traditional thinking brought us to this moment of crisis; a new kind of thinking must be used to help move us forward."
