Current laws and legal definitions are not irrelevant
The abortion debate is not only about what "should" & "should not be." The debate is also about what our existing laws say, what the original intent was and how those laws & legal definitions should be applied today. Laws and legal definitions are the result of lengthy debates by the lawmakers involved. It is very irresponsible to hold the belief that a winning idea argued by our law makers become less relevant or even dismissive - once those ideas are established in a legal definition or law.
