• Approximately half (51%) of the existing housing units in Orange County were single-family detached units.

• In 2009, single-family permits comprised 62% of total permits issued, compared to 41% in 2008.
• Only 2,184 residential building permits were issued in 2009, representing a decline of 31% in one year and 77% since 2004.
