Emergence
My synthesis of all the discussions that have been going on several forums is that the future is emergent by nature and cannot be decreed or engineered. At best, if a sufficient number of people "push" in a certain direction by orienting their actions toward it, they will see their prefered future materialize. So the best that can be done by agents of change is to spread the ideas and practices for "better"...
I am personally seing a big trend toward a realization that we are all humans and "in it" together. There is an increasing number of initiatives that refer to WEness as a driver for change. Comming from the consciousness/cosmology/evolutionary angle (The Human Project), the socio/economic one (GES Greater WE), the activist/political one (occupy wall street), and a whole array of initiatives on new ways for money, agriculture, business, etc.... all more or less oriented around human beings responsibly becoming custodians of our commons or artisans of our collective future.
