Jewish immigration to Palestine continues through the 1920s, rising from around 11% of the population in 1922. Tensions between the Muslims and the Jews build over access to Jerusalem's Western Wall, culminating in demonstrations and riots in August 1929—in which 116 Arabs and 133 Jews were killed.
