What is Dengue?
Dengue virus is a mosquito-borne flavivirus infection

  • Transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes
  • WHO estimates there are 50 million cases of infection annually – 2/5 world’ s population is at risk
  • Found in tropical and sub-tropical regions, predominantly urban & semi-rural areas
  • Endemic in 70 countries – 30X increase in last 50 yrs
