Calorimeter
In physics, an instrument for measuring heat exchange. In a particle physics, a calorimeter is used to measure the amount of energy carried by particles. The particles interact with the medium and release part or all of their energy, most often through a jet of secondary particles, whose total energy is measured. There are two types of calorimeters, electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeters, depending on the type of particle (photons and electrons; hadrons made up of quarks) measured.
