In certain areas the competence of scientists can be questioned
Science contains controversy, there is often more than one view amongst scientists. Moreover, scientist often understand different issues to the general public. A challenge for a crowdsourcing approach may be to get these (crudely) two groups to understand the viewpoint of the other.
