Talk therapy may be useful.
There are many studies cited in "Anatomy of an Epidemic" which show that talk therapy can be very useful.

How vaild "schizophrenia" is as a term is now debated. Intervoice and the Hearing Voices Network are working hard on this issue. Eleanor Longden gave a very moving speech at TED2013.
