A gentleman from AIM wrote about the overseas chinese (referring to mainland chinese that have immigrated abroad) and how they have become a potent economic force in their countries of domicile now (the Philippines included), do you see OFWs transcending as such?
1. Should we enhance our schools curricula to teach "how to become an entrepreneur"? It seems the current curricula is geared towards "how to become an employee". The question is on the context that perhaps OFWs can also excel as entrepreneurs in their domiciles.
2. If OFWs are bringing in so much money consistently (even a 2.6% growth last year despite the global crisis), why should new applicants be charged by recruiters for applying abroad? Should this placement fees be eliminated or subsidized by the government through low-interest travel loans? More OFWs = more inward remittances.
3. Should low-interest student loans be proliferated so more potential OFWs could be helped and therefore more inward remittances?
4. Shouldn't OFW families have priority on scholarships and travel loans to reintegrate their families and lessen the social problems of those left behind?
