Theory
In physics a theory generally refers to the mathematical support, derived from a small collection of fundamental principles and equations, which is used to predict phenomena that can be observed experimentally. A theory, which has a broad scope and is tested extensively, is usually distinguished from a model, which has a narrow application field and reproduces data more qualitatively than quantitatively.
