Professor and Head of the Department of Statistics at the University of British Columbia Vancouver.

  • I'm drawn to questions of how much useful information can be extracted from difficult data.  This puts me in and around the intersection of a few research areas including Bayesian analysis, partial identificationcausal inferencemeasurement error, and evidence synthesis.  Many of the motivations for, and applications of, my work arise in epidemiology, public health, and biostatistics.  If forced to come up with an acronym for my research program, I'd have to go with REDDI - the Reasoned Evidence from Difficult Data Initiative.
