2008 US consumed 138 billion gallons of gasoline and 10 billion gallons of biofuels, primarily ethanol. Used in gasoline blends E10 (10/90 ethanol/gasoline), available in most states. Lesser sales of E85( 85/15 ethanol/gasoline) for specially designed flexible-fuel vehicles. Approx. 98 percent of domestic ethanol is made from corn grown in the Midwest.
