Process Compression
Start with aggressive conservation: eliminate process waste; redesign to use minimal resources. Then improve qualitative effects, not just for clients, but for everyone. Reduce the unwanted side effects of technology on the world outside the orbits of its producers and suppliers.
"Lean" practitioners "kaizen" a man-made process by eliminating steps that do not need to be done. They thereby reduce the resource consumption footprint of that process. This basic concept can be expanded to cover the full life cycle of products and processes.
