Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) [1] is a campaigning public-health charity working to eliminate the harm caused by tobacco, through information and networking (opinion and awareness-raising about tobacco use) and advocacy and campaigning (pressing for policy measures to tackle the issue) [2]. It is also the secretariat for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Smoking and Health. ASH coordinated the umbrella group Smokefree Action Coalition, which was set up to campaign for comprehensive smoke-free legislation, including in workplaces (which came into force in 2006) [3].
