The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry [1] is a non-profit professional association, with membership open to physicians and medical students in child psychiatry or paediatrics. Its mission is ‘to promote the healthy development of children, adolescents, and families through advocacy, education, and research, and to meet the professional needs of child and adolescent psychiatrists throughout their careers’. It works with children and their families to produce accessible resources, provides resources and learning modules for professionals, and advocates at federal and state levels to educate policymakers and improve policies and services for children and adolescents with mental illness, including through the Campaign for America’s Kids (which supports innovative advocacy/education/research initiatives to improve access to mental-health treatments for all children at all ages) [2].
