The Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF) [1] is an independent organisation working to inspire social change through research, policy and practice. Its vision is for a prosperous UK without poverty where everyone can thrive and contribute. To achieve this, the Foundation works in partnership with private, public and voluntary sectors, as well as individuals and communities. JRF searches for the underlying causes of social problems, demonstrates practical solutions to influence lasting change through publishing and promoting evidence, and encourages multi- stakeholder collaboration [2]. The Foundation collaborates with employers to suggest ways to improve people’s skills and create a stronger workforce [3].
