Maria Helena Clode was born on the 14th of April of 1927.
A pioneer in the area of Immunoallergology, Clode graduated in Biology Applied to Terrestrial Wildlife Resources, from Lisbon´s Faculty of Sciences, having presented an internship report entitled “Determination of the Anopheles atroparvus Mosquito´s Susceptibility to the West Nile Arbovirus through the Technique of Intrathoracic Inoculation” (1997).
Among the wide roster of congresses, symposiums, round tables, seminars and scientific meetings to which she was linked throughout her career, one should highlight the following:
1971 - presented the communication "Extrinsic Allergic dry socket - Report of some classic and probably new forms" at the European Congress of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (Marseille, France).
1972 - participated in a Round Table on Etiology of Respiratory Infections, where she discussed "Other Therapeutic Means" (Viseu, Portugal).
1973 - participated in the Annual Meeting of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology, where he presented two communications: "Auto-Antibodies in Allergic Lung Diseases" and "Fibrinogen Degradation Products in Allergic Disorders" (Pamplona, Spain). Presented a communication to the VIII International Congress of Allergy, entitled "Reaginic and Precipitinic Antibodies to Dermatophagoides in Asthmatic Patients" (Tokyo, Japan).
1974 - participated in a clinical session, by the initiative of the Department of Allergology, where she presented the clinical case "Lung Rola Creator" (Lisbon, Portugal). Presented a communication in the IX European Congress of Allergology and Clinical Immunology entitled "Mite Allergy in Lisbon" (London, UK).
In 2008, she received a 50-year Commemorative Medal from “Secção Regional Sul da Ordem dos Médicos”, an event that took place in “Casa do Médico S. Rafael”, in Sines (Portugal).
She died on the 13th of March of 2012.

Maria Helena Clode nasceu a 14 de Abril de 1927. Do seu casamento com William Henry Clode teve cinco filhos: Paulo Guilherme Clode (1959), Nuno Henrique Clode (1960), Maria Pilar Clode (1961), João Marcos Clode (1964) e Maria Helena Clode (1969).
Foi pioneira na área da Imunoalergologia, tendo-se licenciado em Biologia Aplicada aos Recursos Faunísticos Terrestres pela Faculdade de Ciências de Lisboa, com um relatório de estágio intitulado “Determinação da Susceptibilidade do Mosquito Anopheles atroparvus ao Arbovírus West Nile pela Técnica de Inoculação Intratorácica” (1997).

Entre o vasto rol de congressos, simpósios, mesas redondas, colóquios e reuniões científicas a que esteve associada destacam-se as seguintes:
1971 - apresentou a comunicação “Extrinsic Allergic Alveolitis – Report of some classic and probably new forms” no Congresso Europeu de Alergologia e Imunologia Clínica (Marselha, França).
1972 - participou numa Mesa Redonda sobre Etiopatogenia das Infecções Respiratórias, onde discursou sobre “Outros Meios Terapêuticos” (Viseu, Portugal).
1973 - participou na Reunião Anual da Academia Europeia de Alergologia e Imunologia Clínica, onde apresentou duas comunicações: “Auto-Antibodies in Allergic Lung Diseases” e “Fibrinogen Degradation Products in Allergic Disorders” (Pamplona, Espanha). Envio de uma comunicação ao VIII Congresso Internacional de Alergologia, intitulada “Reaginic and Precipitinic Antibodies to Dermatophagoides in Asthmatic Patients” (Tóquio, Japão).
1974 - participou numa sessão clínica, por iniciativa do Departamento de Imunoalergologia, onde apresentou o caso clínico “Pulmão de Criadora de Rola” (Lisboa, Portugal). Enviou uma comunicação ao IX Congresso Europeu de Alergologia e Imunologia Clínica, intitulada “Mite Allergy in Lisbon” (Londres, reino Unido).
Em 2008, recebeu a Medalha Comemorativa dos 50 anos de registo na Secção Regional Sul da Ordem dos Médicos, evento que teve lugar na Casa do Médico S. Rafael, em Sines.
Maria Helena Clode morreu a 13 de Março de 2012.
