Community Work:

 

·       Finished 90 day challenge with my members and had some great transformations. Winner will be announced and awarded $1000 at our Anniversary Party- May 30th. Second place winner will receive $500.

·       Launched a 5 day program “Hot Mommy Makeover” after Mother’s Day. This combines my 5 Day Detox Program and 5 days of fitness workouts with on-line coaching. Approximately 200 clients are taking part in program. Details of 5 Day Detox can be seen here: http://brienshamp.com.

·       Youth Obstacle Boot Camp will be at Discovery Day at Cipriani School in Belmont: http://youthobstaclebootcamp.com/

·       Youth Obstacle Boot Camp is working on a after school program at school in Daly City.

·       Added fitness workouts to You Tube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/optimalfit and blog @ http://brienshamp.com.

·       New health & fitness content posted on blog and Facebook fan page daily

·       Free Trail Running Group each Saturday @ 7:30 am: http://brienshamp.com/bonus-workout-schedule/

·       Brien Shamp’s Boot Camps donated $1500 to the Healthy Tutor Program in San Carlos, which was matched by another donor.

 

Collaborative Work:

·       Denet Lewis from CH-MRC and I are working on a project together for HOSA

·       Mr. Dan Esbensen from CH-MRC is helping me organize you tube videos for future projects

·       Working with Flowater to spread the word on their purification water system.

·       Met with a colleague to discuss a new wearable prototype that adds a gaming variable to fitness.

·       I have an article in Parenting on the Peninsula, April 2015 “The 5 Big benefits of Weight Loss” attached and another for May 2015 “Looks like a glass of red wine may indeed be a good thing!” attached.

Personal Research:

Denet Lewis and I attended the Fitness Business Summit in Costa Mesa, CA.  The main focus was fitness marketing. Lots of money to be made in the health & fitness industry but most trainers are lacking expertise in this area. Listen to speakers and networked with other health & fitness professionals.

Community Work: Brien Shamp and I attend the Fitness Business Summit in Costa Mesa, CA.  We met with many boot camp instructors and leaders who are working at the community level to get local communities fit and healthy.

Collaborative Work: Brien and I had dinner with the founder of Flowater.  "We care about providing the best hydration possible"

Personal Research: Reading Nate Miyaki's new book "The Truth About Carbs". 

Summaries from the month: Tips from the talk by 72 year old Stephen Jepson, keep moving, never leave the playground, and keep learning new things.  Become smarter and sharper now.  No Matter how impaired the body has become through neglect or disease or aging, consistent movement is imperative to regain and maintain balance, Stability, coordination and growth.

Summaries from the month: My Father in law had decided to do Chemotherapy to treat his Stage 4 Prostate cancer. We have been preparing them with proper nutrition plans and exercise plans, so most of my research this month has been heavily focused on this.

Community Work: Continued partnership with Brien Shamp Boot Camps and Healthy Cities Tutoring. A generous portion of the benefits from the bootcamp go to support the volunteers at Healthy Cities. This year's donation came during Silicon Valley Gives campaign so we were able to get a matching donation.

 

Collaborative Work

  • Setting up collaboration between San Carlos Department of Parks and Recreation and the San Carlos School District Wellness Program to develop integrated goals, especially regarding the after school sports programs in middle school. 
  • Co-authored grant with City of San Carlos Public Works Department to enhance our active transportation programs. 
  • Attended Sequoia Healthcare District Board meeting to advocate for the Healthy Schools Initiative Funding ***need to develop a compelling and succinct way to summarize benefits of a school-based model to address public health issues.
  • Co-hosted private screening of Raising of America -Addressing Healthy Disparities Through Investment for Early Childhood Development for San Mateo County Wellness Alliance. Speaker Panel included Dr. Darlene Francis from UC Berkeley, Kitty Lopez, Executive Director of First 5 San Mateo County. VERY powerful documentary that I recommend everyone see.
  • Beginning talks with HP and School District Superintendent to see if we could implement a personalized wellness device to track students' activity during the school day.
