Maria Olivia Cabral, daughter of Viriato António Ribeiro Pessoal Cabral, was born in Fundão, a municipality situated in the Castelo Branco district, in 1870. She obtained her degree in Medicine from the Medical-Surgical School of Lisbon, thus becoming the first female physician of the Beira Interior province of Portugal.
