• We have chosen categories for the women on the mural that reflect the outcome of their work, rather than their particular disciplines. Typically, categories would include such entries as technology, politics, science, entertainment, etc.

• From our research, we learned that many women are motivated by having a positive impact in the world. So we focused our categories on the results of the work by these women inventors and innovators; for example, augmenting human potential, giving voice, and discovering secrets of the universe.

• We have included women whose inventions, innovations or leadership had a ripple effect that improved the lives of at least one million others.
