Open Notebook Science Network
Open notebook science is the practice of making the entire primary record of a research project publicly available online as it is recorded. This involves placing the personal, or laboratory, notebook of the researcher online along with all raw and processed data, and any associated material, as this material is generated. The approach may be summed up by the slogan 'no insider information'.

Despite the many positives of Open Notebook Science, there are still some psychological, cultural, and technical barriers to being a practitioner.

Over time these barriers will be removed. This network was created for just this purpose, to make Open Notebook Science more accessible to researchers and the public. By removing the technical barriers, while discussing cultural barriers and supporting those who join us in challenging them, we hope it will be easier for scientists to practice Open Science.

ONS Network supports researchers of all disciplines. We believe the world can benefit from access to all knowledge. If you have something you want to share, we welcome you.

The course for which this network was original built, “SciFund 201: Open Notebook Science” was presented in partnership with the #SciFund Challenge. Course materials remain available from the navigation menu above.

This network and its notebooks are built on WordPress, customised for scholarly use by theOpen Science Federation, led by Brian Glanz and with guidance from open notebook scientistsAnthony Salvagno, PhD and the late Jean-Claude Bradley, PhD.
