Malnutrition arises from an unbalanced diet in which certain nutrients are lacking, in excess (too high an intake), or in the wrong proportions. Currently, roughly 1 bn people are hungry in the world, 2 bn are undernourished and underweight, 1 bn people are overweight and 0.5 bn are obese.
