GL UK: Challenges and obstacles
Scotland has a siginificant share of the UK games industry around Dundee and therefore faces problems that current broadband speeds are inadequate for their needs. As with the other UK cities involved in Going Really Local, failure to invest now will be a lost economic opportunity.

The main focuses of going local in London was the Digital Single market which is primarily the concern of national government. However, Scotland is a separate jurisdiction with its own legal system and needs to be included in such debates.

The UK faces nested difficulties in rolling out the growth promoting fibre networks needed by new media industry: Competition policy, entrenched incumbent opposition, financing. The road will be difficult – but must be travelled.
