GL IE: Actions and Commitments

(1) Representatives of the initiatives present were committed to ensuring that digital inclusion and digital empowerment can be regarded as a priority. They can deliver evidence on digital empowerment being smart way out of the economic crisis especially for a country like Ireland with excellent ICT related baseline and environment

(2) Switchover to Digital TV is still to be done – it was suggested as one of the vehicles of wider awareness raising campaign

(3) An update of current policy activities in this field were suggested by the stakeholders. Governmental side was open to suggestions as to how current strategies could be further coordinated to provide a sustainable framework for digital inclusion initiatives. Establishing clear links with mainstream policies (such as education and training, health and social care as well as social and employment services) could be one of the elements.
