Many illegal drugs are much safer than alcohol.
Alcohol causes long-term irreversible damage to multiple organs, has been linked to psychosis and addiction is very difficult to treat. There is no justification to ban drugs which are not addictive, or only mildly addictive, don't cause organ damage and carry a very low risk of injury.
