There is little or no regulations on the internet.

Todays Google is yesterdays Rockefeller and government regulation would promote a healthier infrastructure of commerce and communication.

The internet now as we know is like The WIld Wild West.  There is little or no regulations.  The lack of law makes the internet weaker.

Regulation would prevent internet sites from making deals with internet service providers to promote only their site.

Customers who receive internet service from providers would only have the option provided, regardless of it's usefulness.

Corporations would dictate what sites would be used, not the free market.

If Myspace and AT&T cut a deal and you had a contract with AT&T for internet service, you could only use MySpace.

If companies like Google and Verizon got together, they could easily influence which companies succeed or fail.

Verizon could chose what sites loads the fastest or doesn't load at all.

Verizon would do anything to make sure Google remained on top.

If internet providers had the power to sell speedy service to the highest bidder, non-profit sites like Wikipedia, FailBlog, and Urban Dictionary would be too slow or not function at all.

These non-profit sites are some of the best sites on the web and have become vital resources.

They deserve equal service by service providers.

If Microsoft would have cut a deal with phone companies during it's early stages in the 1980's and 90's, Microsoft would have been a dominate force and Google would have never had a chance to exist.

If Microsoft could have had complete control over the internet and everyone would have to use it, then why would they care about creating innovative products.

They would only do what was in their own interests as a company.

Regardless of the quality of service they provided, people would be forced to use them.
