Standard Model of Particle Physics
A theory that describes strong, weak and electromagnetic interactions, as well as all of the fundamental particles known to date. Devised in the 1970s, the Standard Model is currently consistent with all the experimental tests for which predictions are available. The last missing component, the Higgs boson, was discovered at CERN in 2012.
