IDTVOS is an open source operating system for digital terrestrial television set top boxes which provides accessibility features for disabled people. The prototypes are based on software and today it is compatible with different European standard hardware market products.
Some accessibility features included in the system are: audio guide menus like an Electronic Program Guide integrated with a TTS (text-to-speech technology), customizable high contrast user interface and subtitles (for visual disabilities) and configurable audio-described help.
The Project has been released either in Spanish or English and it has been transferred to the digital television industry including many set-top-box manufacturers, in order they can produce several accessibility alternatives based on this software.
