Welcome To New Member Anna De Pulford (Yoti)
YOTI – a digital id platform putting ownership back in hands of individual – role is in the foundation supporting initiatives in the field of identity eg challenges that people face, ethics and promoting stds – introduced by Doc and Joyce – who are also are ‘Guardians of YOTI’.
Yoti Guardians ….
Yoti Guardians are influential individuals who ensure that Yoti always seeks to do the right thing, and that we are transparent about what we are doing and why. Guardians will bring their expert, independent perspectives and skills to three main responsibilities:
- Making sure Yoti optimises its products, services and partnerships to make life simpler for its user community.
- Ensuring Yoti stays consistent with its mission to build trust and give the user control of their personal data.
- eporting any breaches of trust and representing any concerns shared by a significant percentage of the user community. … a guardian is there to call Yoti out on decisions that are no consistent with heh – can call us out.

Red Cross and Socal fires- Dave Crocker
Finding out how ID is used by Red Cross – is not using formal systems – will ask – but any use of it is minimal.
Facilitate processes leading to dealing with agencies
for most part red cross will ask for
- records / use will be minimal
will facilitate processes
- eg replacing pills
- or by connecting pharmacy / or redirecting to emergency room
Assignment to Socal fires
Finding out how ID is used by Red Cross – is not using formal systems – will ask – but any use of it is minimal.
Facilitate processes leading to dealing with agencies – Red Cross will help get prescriptions by directing to Pharmacy or ER.
Jeff Orgel – ground of story line – fault tolerance with supporting systems – hardware in place – do they fall back to spiral notebooks – are there any systems in SoCal or same challenges as in PR – how
Debate Graph - David Price
Collaborated with Mei Lin in the past
Gates Foundation global health – healthy birthrate and development with 300 scientists and foundation members thinking thru factors from molecular level to national policy
Has social networking built in – commenting, adding posts within context
Strength – complex problem with many dimensions – interlink goals and objectives of stakeholder groups – explore arguments and identify actions – graph becomes an external representation of group’s understanding – in an open and transparent way – surfacing learning and capturing different perspectives and insights – in a single graph – provides all to keep track of the process. Graph is set up so all can participate – usually work in parallel – email, conversations. Requires more attention but rewards it.
Gates foundation – conceptual framework with 900 factors, 120 interventions, 3000 research papers – difficult for anyone to hold the work in their heads – make it explicit – could identify new interventions – understand inter relationships – eg negative feedback loops were discovered. Working with a structure difficult to hold in head – can make connections that are difficult to find and identify.
Process is like Mediation – creates a safe space to surface contentious issues – see it as part of a larger whole.
Joe Comment
… added deliverables – familiar with inspiration – bubbles and arrows – use it for work breakdown structure – I understand what needs to go into mindmap – struggling for LIG debategraph – what should bubbles be? Guidance about how to organize?
David Price Response :
easy to create node types; can surface anything and not worry bout structure – how the structure – can be kaleidoscopic way – may not know what it might interconnect to, sharing it in DG allows connections to emerge
Encourage and experiment – the structure emerges
Cross linking – material surfaced in one context can be shared in another context
211 Connecticut - Katherine Kern
- Part of United Way and done in other states
- Library of resources – to help those who need help – very helpful and willing to share information – keep a large national database for disaster response – able to fill in and take overflow calls for other states
- Identity – doesn’t come up very much – requests for information are about birth certificates – “Real ID Act” makes drivers license meet TSA stds – requires birth certificates – have utility bill with address on it
- Birth certificate coming
- She was interested in identity issues
- Guardianship form for parents to fill out
Comments
Mei Lin
medicare and Medicaid in Puerto Rico
Joe
attributes could be used to identify someone – how privacy could be leaking
If you ask someone on identity, they will focus on their own context – when sharing info in emergency – don’t realize it could be used – identity information is exposed in situation
Katherine
when giving blood – there is a lot of information collected – HIPPA compliance
Dave
historically very different from blood donations and emergency – now Red Cross has a goal of “one red cross” so will talk to the blood folks
Disaster folks facilitating
Anna
this is where we are really interested – UNHCR released a framework for GDPR legislation – ethics of decision making in disaster situations
