MEEHANGROUP: Colloquialism and slang are not the culprits that cause problems - this is an amateur observation. What cause problems in translation are fragmented and ambiguous notes on the margins of important documents like contracts and board minutes, and internal abbreviations that are unique only to the company or groups within the company to refer to things.
In Japan, it’s rare that people use dialects and slang in business documents or even emoticons unless you’re some very young startup from silicon valley or some very edgy entertainment organization or something like that.
