That's not necessarily true.
If elements were to run out they gain value instead of lose value. If we started to run out of oxygen then oxygen would not lose it's value (even though it has none) it would gain value, and if it did gain value we might start having to pay for our oxygen instead of just using it like we do everyday without having to worry about it.
