Andrews, A Affirmative Map for Individual Debate
Andrews, A Affirmative Map for Individual Debate☜We are going to use video technology to create several debates simultaneously. Over the course of several weeks we will use the current topic for Lincoln-Douglas debating from the National Forensic Association. You will participate in two total debates by recording separate speeches to an electronic file and then sharing them with select classmates. The people that are first to submit constructives will be paired against each other.☜F1CEB7

Excerpt / Summary
Atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations have been steadily increasing due to human activity in the form of burning fossil fuels and deforestation. About 8 to 10 billion tons of carbon is added to our atmosphere each year. Even more sobering is that total world energy consumption is projected to increase by 50 percent from 2005 to 2030, according to the Energy Information Administration
. As the world population increases from 6.5 billion to 9 billion people over the next 45 years, and countries continue to industrialize, some estimates indicate that we will be adding more than 20 billion tons of carbon per year to the atmosphere.
A cleaner energy future depends on the development of alternative energy technologies to meet the world's growing energy needs but that also mitigate carbon dioxide emissions.
The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 mandates that nearly 9 billion gallons of biofuels were to be used in 2008, and that up to 36 billion gallons of fuel should be produced by 2022. The global biofuels market is also expected to grow from approximately 13 billion gallons in 2007 (this represents less than 2% of the transportation fuel demand) to more than 50 billion gallons in 2020. SGI believes that clean and renewable fuels derived biologically using our proprietary science are a key solution for the global energy challenges.
