Learners differ in their abilities to show what they have learned through plans, actions, physical movements, verbal expression, written expression, self monitoring, and strategy modifications to meet curriculum goals. UDL states that it is important to be flexibility in all of these areas and allow learners multiple options for how to express and demonstrate their learning.
Providing students with options for how to show what they know and demonstrate their learning can help make all students more successful (National Center on Universal Learning, 2011).
