It substitutes beliefs with untestable lies and by so doing requires no faith on the audience's part. This is in contrast to a belief in god, where it is stated outright that there is no proof, only belief. It seems like it could be true, but due to complexity, it could never be proven, nor disproven. As such it preys on mankind's fear of the unknown, and unknowable. Always requiring more testing and debate. |
