This is a four step proposal.
For those on drugs the "for life" diagnosis suggests that the illness is only being kept in check using the drugs. Since nobody knows how consciousness is connected to the body or brain nobody knows how they work or what will happen if people don't take them. The stigma and fear is rooted in uncertainty.
If it can be shown that even under the current medical model someone can be diagnosed, take medication, come off the medication and be re-assessed and have their diagnosis removed, this would move the conversation forward considerably.
